John Smiley is a Memphis, Tennessee based actor, director, and teaching artist originally from Syracuse, New York. For ten years he lived and worked as an actor/director in NYC and served as one of the Co-Artistic Directors of the Monk Parrots Theatre Company.

Currently he is the Head of Acting and the Director of Theatre at Christian Brothers High School and has served on the adjunct faculty in the Department of Theatre & Dance at the University of Memphis.

John has an MFA in Acting from The University of Texas at Austin and has completed the Teacher Training Program in the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique from the Michael Chekhov Assocation and is a Certified Teacher of the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique from the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. He is also a member of the National Alliance of Acting Teachers.
